Here's how many people got arrested, ejected at Tennessee's football game against Ole Miss

Chaos ensued near the end of Tennessee's football game against Ole Miss when fans threw water bottles, crushed beer cans and other objects onto the field to voice their displeasure over a last-minute call.

There were 18 arrests and 47 ejections as a result of the fans' actions at Neyland Stadium, according to preliminary report the UT Police Department.

Tennessee's own cheerleaders left the sidelines for the final minute to avoid debris, while Ole Miss players stepped onto the actual field to create space between the team and the stands. Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin was the target of with a golf ball. Play on the field was stopped for at least 15 minutes, and a forfeit warning was issued.

Play was resumed as Tennessee still had enough timeouts to force a stop and get the ball back with seconds remaining. Ole Miss held on to win the game 31-26.

UT Chancellor Donde Plowman said after the game that campus police are working to identify fans who threw trash on the field. They could face disciplinary action. Students could be banned from attending future UT games.

A UT spokesperson said more security cameras may be added to Neyland Stadium and focused on the student section, from which most of the trash was thrown. That will be considered by an event management review.

“We are trying to identify people who threw things onto the field last night in order to hold them accountable,” Plowman said in a statement to Knox News. “Further, athletics is working with UTPD and the Division of Student Life to provide recommendations to me and (athletics director) Danny White related to preventing and deterring bad behavior in the stadium, particularly in our student section.”

The UT spokesperson said students who threw trash on the field during the Vols’ loss will go through the student conduct process and lose the ability to attend future games.
