Don't get me wrong . . . . I like the idea of OU and Texas joining the SEC. It should be beneficial to everyone. I just believe things are going to get "crazy" before it all over.
I don't think I like it. First off, you think Alabama is a darling now, wait until Texas starts swinging around their money and influence in the conference. Secondly, I'm not to happy about the liberals in Austin, TX having say what goes on in our conference.
Call me crazy but I have a feeling this is going to bite us smaller schools in the ass sooner rather than later. I can already see that 16 may end up being too big of a conference. If that does indeed happen, guess which teams would be first on the chopping block. It won't be any blue bloods.

Texas and OU should stay in the Big 21. Both teams had the chance to move into the SEC a few years ago when Texas attempted a coup masterminded by the Big 10 to get several teams to transfer to the Pac 10. This was an attempt to undermine the SEC. The SEC was ahead of the game, though, and asked TAMU to join, so the plot fell apart. This is a good reason to not want Texas because of their ethics, but then again, it's not about the ethics, it's all about the money!!!

How does their joining balance out the conference?

I hate the idea and screw the land theifs and left wing ########### in Austin.
The main reason A&M left the big 12 was the way they were getting screwed by the big 12 giving OU and texas more money.
SEC fans would HATE having texas in the SEC. They dont fit culturally, etc. They could hang out with the left wing Vandy fans, that is about it.

I agree Rock. Texas destroyed the Southwest and the Big 12. They're like a woman that has been divorced a few times and doesn't understand why.

I detest the University of Texas but I love the state as a whole.

I am becoming an old crotchety SOB. Nothing looks to be changing for the better. I am fine with change, I embrace change. But you can tell when Change is good or bad and this potential addition is stupid.
If the SEC wanted more parity, they would stop protecting Alabama and giving them all the power. Hell, the state of bama gets so much financial benefit that the rest of the states don’t. Media days was in Hoover, why? Why not Jackson? (Besides it being dodgy). Point is, the sec hq is in bama, they host so many things in this state where they get to enjoy tax revenues and such that states like ark, miss, ky need and will never see.
So adding TX will only make the rich richer and schools like ours that much harder to compete.

Media Days, The SEC Baseball Championship, SEC Headquarters and I'm sure there are other connections I am not aware of...

Texas and Oklahoma are just the tip of the Iceberg.
With the additions of Texas and Oklahoma, the SEC will be up to 16 teams but one report says the conference doesn’t want to stop there.
Barstool Sports’ Jack McGuire reports that the SEC has been in ‘serious contact’ with Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan and Florida State about leaving their respective conferences to join the league. The ultimate goal? To have a true 20-team mega conference.

The addition of all these teams to the SEC will truly ruin the regional designation of college football teams. Apparently it's about the greed and power of money.
