Official word came from Ole Miss tonight.
I didn’t think it would happen - LSU hiring a coach with his proven postseason flops.
But now Bianco has to recruit against SEC schools that can tell these recruits that “well you know Bianco himself tried to leave there for another job in the same division; is that a program you want to play for?” - yikes
And he has to coach a team that he tried to leave

Why would Bianco leave Ole Miss? He has it made in Oxford. His son is a senior in High School this year, so that makes it hard to uproot him. Baton Rouge is not a desirable place to live. Bianco makes $1.5M and is not held to any accountability to produce. If he has a few bad seasons at LSU, the Tigers would be calling for his head. At Ole Miss, he can make good money, get rewarded for mediocrity, not be under pressure to win, and live in a desirable community where he maintains his social status. Now Carter will probably reward him with both an extension and a raise. Ole Miss fans will experience the same Bianco roller coaster ride each baseball season.

One reason he won’t leave — He couldn’t get the LSU job

Bianco's son that is supposed to be a Senior in high school as one reason for the Bianco staying in Oxford ISN'T a son,,, he is a girl. Bianco's DAUGHTER is a Senior in high school.
It always makes for a better story when the facts are correct!

Keith Carter issued a statement that concluded with this:
"Our program is poised to take the next step to Omaha, and we believe Coach Bianco is the right person to guide us there."
Maybe it's just me, but that seemed strange, almost bizarre. Keith sounded like he was introducing a new coach, not the same coach who has had 20 seasons to take the program to Omaha, yet has gotten there only once. Our program is now "poised" to get to Omaha with a coach who has only a 5% chance to do so based on a 20 year history at Ole Miss? I like Keith Carter and think he's done a decent job so far, but the wording of that statement was not his finest hour.

The statement from Carter should be more like . . .
"Our program is poised to take the next step to Omaha, and we believe Coach Bianco is the right person to guide us there at least one time in the next 20 years."

This Bianco situation is certainly odd. He did put Ole Miss baseball on the map and has had a lot of success for an extended period of time. He has also (at least to my knowledge) been squeaky clean and a class act while doing it. Bc of those things, i have no ill will toward him. But he has failed to get over the hump too many times and there is no doubt we have plateaud under his leadership. We will continue to have success under him with regional and super regional appearances. But we can't ever expect to have consistent appearances in the CWS.

That will be quite an accomplishment if he stays for another 20 years, 2 CWS appearances in 40 years.
Yeah boy, that's what I call poised to get us there. Gilligan was poised to get evreyone off the island!
