Details related to the settlement between Houston Nutt and Ole Miss re

Details related to the settlement between Houston Nutt and Ole Miss reportedly have been learned.

In a report by the Daily Journal’s Parrish Alford on Monday, it is revealed that the former Rebels coach did not receive the $500,000 he sought from the school. (He did, however, gain the apology he wanted.)

Check out more from Alford’s report, which was developed after a Freedom of Information request.

The agreement states that neither side will sue the other and that each side will pay its own bills.

Nutt “discharges and releases” all claims including “compensatory and punitive damages, attorney fees and expenses and all costs of litigation.”

The university agrees to the same.

The public statements on behalf of Nutt and the university that were released by the university appear in the document, and both sides agree not to discuss the settlement with media “either directly or indirectly” other than to acknowledge its resolution.

It’s interesting to learn that Nutt wasn’t awarded the money he wanted, and that each side will pay its own bills. It’s probably best for both parties that this episode is behind Nutt and the school.

Meanwhile, Ole Miss awaits the final results of an NCAA investigation that has lingered over the program.

Nutt got played by Mars and Steve Robertson. At some point, he woke up, realized that, and decided to cut his losses.

Speaking of Hootie..... does he still live out there on Hwy 6 east?   He had a nice big lake out there and I kept threatening to sneak in there early one morning and snatch a 'perch' or 2......alas the temptation to walk up to his door, knock and tell him what I really thought of him would have overpowered my fishing pole so, discretion being the better part of valor, I decided to not poach his perch!

I think I read he was in Texas or New Mexico maybe?  That house was on the market at one time and I think it sold.  Not sure.

Thanks "Bow"....I hadn't heard....I was mostly curious if he was still lurking around Oxford..... I would've thought he'd go back to Arkansas and root around in the Ozarks.....

Mutt sold his house on Hwy 6 and from what I have heard, he is in the Dallas area.  I think he has a vacation home in New Mexico.

Hootie lives in Fairview,TX which is northwest of Dallas, TX.  It is between McKinney and Allen.  This summer I was in that area and should have stopped by for a Hotty Toddy visit!!!
