Something abruptly must have happened. Maybe he was going to take another job, or took another job. Clements has been one of the best OL coaches at Ole Miss. This will be a big loss, but ultimately it is Kiffin's decision.

Rumor has it that Luke wants to come back to Oxford and will be hired as the next OL. His political machine has circled the wagons to make this happen. He has the experience, he knows the program, and he loves Ole Miss!!! What more could you want from a coach?

If that is the reason Kiffin had to fire him , then i wouldn't blame Kiffin if he took the first job offer to get out of Oxford. I could just see them at Alabama telling Saban to fire one of his coaches.

That's the one coach I didn't want to lose. I have no idea why he was fired but I do know he is a damn good offensive line coach. I hope we don't hire some Matt Luke wannabe to replace him. Really disappointing.

Maybe he let a player sleep on his couch and the ncaa said we had to fire him or lose 20 scholarships/year for 10 years.

I have not posted on this because i wanted to try and get some real info on the situation.
As most know I know Lane well and have known randy for 25+ years. Never been a big fan of Randy, he was Art Briles right hand man all the way beach to their Stephenville HS days. Art is hell of a football coach, but a cock roach. PERIOD. He was recently a HS coach here in East Texas , Mt Vernon and got in all kinds of trouble for illegal players and coaches. IN HIS FIRST YEAR BACK COACHING 3A HS FOOTBALL. Anyway, just a cockroach.and was ran off. Clements was a hanger on of his, did his dirty work and should have never been let back in college coaching after the Baylor situation. I know people will say, well, what about Lebby. Completely different situation. When Lane hired Randy, I didnt say anything positive or negative. Just hoped for the best. I have also delt with Randy recruiting my players and he was lazy and a liar.
After talking to many, many people these past 2 days. Randy has not told any of the people that he would normally tell, why the split came with LAne.
If Randy was not in the wrong, he would be blasting the reason all over the Texas HS coaches ears.
But so far, not a word. Tells me Randy did something to get fired. What that is, I don't know yet. But it was not just a disagreement on "styles".
I have a feeling he was doing some backstabbing going on and it got back to Kiffin.
Lane is wide awake to that kind of stuff as it has happened to him at the Raiders and USC and a little bit at Bama as OC.
He is just not going to put up with it.
Dont know for a fact what it is, but will find out. Hopefully soon.

Thanks for the insight Rock. The rumor that keeps popping up that I've been hearing is that Randy had been actively vying for a job at another program. Supposedly, he thought Lebby was taking a HC job elsewhere earlier this year and that Lebby was taking him with him as a OC and that Randy got very lazy with his duties during that time period. When Lebby stayed, Randy was supposedly unhappy and has been bitter about it and difficult to work with.
Having said that, it's just a rumor that I've been told by a few different people. Could very well be that it's a complete BS rumor and something else may have happened. But, again, that seems to be the most prominent rumor going around. I've heard "Oh, he was sleeping with co-eds" - but that's usually the very first thing people float out there when a coach is let go of and I haven't heard anything reliable on that.
The truth will probably come out at some point, but I have complete trust in Lane in how he's running the program and I'm sure he'll get a very good recruiting and OL coach as a replacement.
