Ole Miss Football Coaching Staff

The current Ole Miss coaching staff is one of the worst in the history of Ole Miss football.  Although Luke is a former player and has a genuine love for Ole Miss, he is a horrible head coach and was an ineffective coordinator.

Perhaps none of these coaches are really putting forth an effort because they know their time at Ole Miss is limited to one or two seasons.  As a result, they simply take the title, cash the check, and look for other possible opportunities.

Freeze made two bad hires when he hired Longo as OC and McGriff as DC.  Although the checkbook was supposedly open, Freeze took the cheap route and hired "yes men" instead of quality coordinators who had good past experience.  When making the hires, Freeze wanted to make sure that he was not overshadowed by whoever he hired, so this could partially explain the hiring of Longo and McGriff.

Longo came from a lower division and had no upper division offers in his career.  His gimmicky offense does not work in the SEC.  The only highlight about his offense is that it sometimes creates big gainers, but the Lingo offense is not one that consistently moves the ball downfield.

McGriff had a good reputation as a recruiter and DB coach.  He had no experience as a coordinator and his actions are showing that he lacks considerable experience in being a successful DC.  The Ole Miss defense often seems out of position and does not possess fundamentals such as tackling properly.  There is some talent on the defense, but it is not being developed.

One thing for sure, after such lack luster performance and the non-development of players, Ole Miss badly needs to overhaul the entire football coaching staff.  The big question is what kind of NCAA sanctions will be levied against Ole Miss.  If the sanctions last another season, which is most likely, what coach would come to Ole Miss under these conditions?

Below is a listing of the current Ole Miss Football Staff.  Would you considering keeping anyone?  Do you think any of these coaches are coaching their position in a positive manner?
