Ole Miss had another season that was typical of Bianco ball. The Rebels started the season highly ranked and at one time moved up to #1. The team had big wins at the beginning of the season against rated teams TCU, Texas, and Texas Tech.
Once the Rebels entered the SEC part of the schedule, things began to unravel. The Rebels proved to be a mediocre team ranked in the middle of the pack. In Bianco style, Ole Miss had some good wins, but then they had some bad losses.
The Rebels hosted a regional, but then, as usual with Bianco, the team could not get out of the Super Regional and advance to Omaha. Bianco flirted with LSU on their job opening, but either declined or was not selected as their head coach. If Bianco's antics were a ploy to get an extension and raise, it worked because in WAOM fashion, Keith Carter took the easy way out and extended Bianco's contract. This could have been a good scenario to cut the strings with Bianco.
Now Rebel fans will continue the rollercoaster seasons and reluctantly wonder why Bianco will not get the team to Omaha. After all the seemingly great Rebels teams have failed to get to Omaha, Bianco ends up with a dismal 1-21 record on getting to Omaha. In the meantime, Miss. State wins the 2021 CWS and is on a 16-3 streak against Bianco over the last five years. It will be interesting to see what happens with Ole Miss baseball, but most likely it will be another yoyo year.
