If this is true (link below) it looks like the Florida brass may be trying to terminate his employment with cause.

After the big loss to Georgia and the disappointing season, the Gator fans are ready to get rid of McElwain. Now if McElwain were at Ole Miss, the Ole Miss administration who just allow him to stay around with mediocre seasons until his contract expired.

I read some ramblings earlier this week regarding Mc and whether or not he still wanted to be the coach at Florida. He's a West Coast guy if I recall. He may have his sights set on Oregon State or several other Pac12 programs who may be looking to make a change.
Almost sounds like he made this up to provide a reason to ask for his way out. Florida Admin called his bluff. Will be interesting to see how this plays out but I don't think he will be coaching there next fall at this point.

Hopefully Ole Miss has been making contacts with quality candidates and getting things ready for a new HC at Ole Miss. Norvell would have been a good choice. Memphis State has done well on its last two choices for HCs. Both Memphis State and Ole Miss have the common denominator that most coaches will use them as a stepping stone.

Fish, Tubs left for a better gig. Best thing that ever happened to Ole Miss because it publicly forced us to recognize what we needed to be doing that we weren’t.
Who else? We fired everyone else that I can recall.
Ole Miss isn’t anything remotely close to a stepping stone job. HF pay would have ranked #11 this season if he were still here.
We got lots of issues to address but tbat isn’t one of them.
