Ole Miss hooked a Louisiana long snapper on Wednesday.
John Bergeron, a 2020 prospect out of St. Paul's School in Covington, La., committed to the Rebels. Bergeron will be a preferred walk on.
The 6-0, 210-pound Bergeron, who owns a 31 ACT score, will attend Ole Miss on almost a full academic scholarship.
"First and foremost, I have an academic scholarship to Ole Miss. Secondly, as Coach (Lane) Kiffin always says, there's football and there's the SEC. I know there's nothing like the SEC, and it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Bergeron told the Ole Miss Spirit.
Bergeron was also receiving overtures from Tulane, Kansas and others. He was recruited to Ole Miss by special teams coordinator Blake Gideon.
Bergeron is rated as a 4.5-star prospect by Rubio Long Snapping, indicative of a high-level Division I prospect.
Bergeron committed to the Rebels without having visited the campus. He says he expects to make his first trip to Oxford soon.
"I'm coming up sometime in March," he said.
Bergeron has been long snapping since middle school.
"It's definitely a unique position. I got into it mainly because of my parents around my eighth-grade year. They thought this would be a good way to get into college football. I followed up with it. I just dedicated myself for four years working to get better at it and to get to the level that I'm at today," shared Bergeron.

Form is very good, his athleticism is improving. I absolutely love when he snaps the ball with full power and confidence. High GPA Long Snapper that will make his coach happy at the next level.
