Mike Leach to State
State is gonna put up 50 points/game...but give up 70.
SEC Media Days is going to be fun to watch.

Going to be weird them having a coach I actually like to listen to. Having said that, I never wanted him at Ole Miss and don’t think he will be very successful at state. He won his games out-scoring teams with slow defenses. Not many teams in the SEC that gimmicky stuff will work against consistently. And he won’t be able to recruit well enough to put similar talent on the field. I’m seeing his results as very similar to Moorhead’s

He aint going to put up 50 in the SEC. Leach will bring a scheme that will move the ball, but in the SEC he wont be able to score inside the 20. He wont be able to recruit the studs he needs to beat the big dogs. His career as a HC is to use under recruited guys to out scheme other under recruited guys. At Texas Tech. he was notorious for scheduling 1-AA and D2 schools to win the first 4 games of the year, then beating schools like Kansas, Ok St, Baylor, Iowa St, etc who were all garbage during Leach's days in Lubbock. In 10 years at Tech, he was 5-21 against texas, OU and Neb, the top 3 in the conference.
At Was St he had the 1 great year when he got lucky on a grad transfer Gardner Minchew, even after that year he was a 36-36 coach in conference at Was St. IN a TERRIBLE Pac 12.
Look, I have know the Leach for 20 years, he is what he is. Can out scheme teams that dont have as much talent or sometimes equal talent. But he is not a recruiter, doesnt put in the time to recruit as he feels he can out scheme and out coach everyone. He will be at another place in Starkville that is hard as hell to recruit to just like Lubbock and starkville..
The media has made him out this mad scientist because he is good as soundbites. I look at things deeper.
I look at what he has actually done as a coach.
8 years as a HC, ZERO conference titles, ZERO New Years Day bowls ( sorry, dont count the cotton bowl as they were demoted years ago)
he is a .500 coach against D-1 schools, that is it.

I'm kind of hopeful about State hiring Leach. But not for the reasons anyone else is. Leach is a pretty cerebral person (even if he is odd) and I don't think he tolerates a lot of stupidity. So, I'm hoping Leach and Kiffin can add some civility and respect back into the rivalry, regardless of whether the fans like it or not. I'm tired of the "hatred" crap. I have good State friends that are tired of it too. Like I said, I can at least hope.

He gave superior "star" teams fits with his coaching ability. He will attract better offensive talent probably than JoMo.

Leach won't play the "Hate Ole Miss" game that has become almost a requirement for an MSU coach. The jury is still out on how is scheme will translate into the SEC. Time will tell.

Yeah, the 50 points/game but give up 70 was a joke. 
The guy is entertaining, and I did enjoy reading his book. But I agree that he's not a great coach (in that he doesn't like to recruit) and will struggle at State. State usually schedules a very weak OOC schedule (haven't looked to see what their future schedule is like), and he'll benefit from that. But recruiting kids to Starkville will be a tough sell.

I thought JoMo was supposed to have been the offensive genius that was going to attract all the talent to state. Just don’t see the results being much different with Leach no matter how much state fans want it to be so.
