Switching to Project Fi

As many folks here know, I'm a big fan of Google and their products/services. Yesterday, I decided to make one more change using Google - switch to Project Fi. For those not aware, Project Fi is cellular services offered by Google that uses Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and WiFi. There are two main reasons for this switch:
1. Our AT&T bill is 90.44/month. With Project Fi, that will be 55/month (should be less).
2. I do not get any cellular reception at my house. Instead, we have to use a Microcell for cellular service.

Project Fi is a pre-pay plan. I work 100% from home (I'm a software developer for a bank). Because of that, I never use any cellular data. With Project Fi, whatever you don't use, you are credited for your next month's bill. So, most likely, my cellular bill will only be around $40/month. That's less than half of what I pay now.

Of course there is a "gotcha" with this. You can only use Nexus, Pixel, or now the Motorola x4 Android One phone (which is what we ordered). The reason for that is the phone has to support being able to automatically switch between carriers and WiFi to use the strongest signal. However, these are phones I've been wanting - updates come directly from Google and you do not get any of the carrier or manufacturer "bloat" on the Android phones. That's something that I have gotten tired of as an Android user - relying on a manufacturer to decide if they want to include an update, and then relying on the carrier to decide if they want to push out that update or not.

My new phones should arrive the first week of November, and then it's "bye bye" to AT&T!
