Lots of folks reporting in the interwebs that Derrick Nix is not being retained.
Also being reported on various forums that McGee isn't being retained either.

Also saw where Yancy and Neal have gotten into a pissing contest. LOL

Yancy pretty much toes the line. But yeah, Neal is a douche.

What have you heard on Nix not being retained and where did you hear it?
Magee was brought on board by Rich Rod. There was little to no productivity from the TE position, so that would mean to me that Magee was not an effective coach.

Kiffin has definite ideas about those he wants on his staff. As HC, he should have the right to keep any assistants of the previous HC or get rid of any. Some folks on other boards are all hung up on Nix not being retained. I don’t share their concerns. The ultimate buck stops with Kiffen, and I trust him to make the decisions.

Neal's Response
I feel compelled to address this:
1. I do not care whether Ole Miss retains Derrick Nix or not. I don't care if Ole Miss retains anyone. I don't care. I feel it's part of my job description as a journalist to not care. I don't know Derrick Nix beyond interviews. That means I don't think badly of him or consider him a friend. I don't know him in any non-professional capacity. That applies to the overwhelming majority of relationships that I have with people I cover. I have never campaigned for a coach to be fired, nor will I. That's not part of the job.
2. For a member of the Ole Miss Spirit, even one with the ambiguous role of Yancy Porter, to openly declare that they have a "policy of not commenting" on competition is laughable and disingenuous. I have had multiple coaches tell me specifically what has been said of me. It's fine; all is fair in love and war and all that, but the "he's bad for the program" and "he hates Ole Miss" and "you can only trust us" narratives come from one place. No other entity on the beat plays that way.
3. Please show me were I have attacked Derrick Nix. I'll wait.
4. I am a "journalist," Mr. Porter. I have worked at multiple newspapers, won state and national awards for my reporting, broken stories in news and sports, etc. I have a contract with Yahoo/Oath/Verizon that has language in it that very clearly labels me as a journalist. I cover games wearing a media credential. I don't sit in the left field stands and drunkenly yell at coaches. I don't walk sidelines before a game and then sit in the stands cheering during them. I can see how some might be confused, but I've always understood my role.
5. I've never once argued about access. I have never complained about access. Believe it or not. I'm a rule-follower. I suspect Kyle Campbell, Ole Miss' long-time director of media relations, would vouch for that. So would Adam Kufner, Ole Miss' media contact for men's basketball. I follow the rules.
6. Mr. Porter is right about Sunday. However, Mr. Porter is wrong about what I did. I didn't go to an NFL game. In fact, since leaving an NFL beat after the 2007 season, I've been to one NFL game. No, in fact, I presumed, based on the events of the past week, that the coaches would not want media hanging out around the hotel. Plus, my wife was throwing a party for my daughter's dance group Sunday, so I accompanied her to Memphis Sunday morning and helped her get ready for said party. Zach Berry did go to a football game, but he lives in Nashville and it was one of the games on Neal's Picks. Details, but in journalism, Mr. Porter, details matter. There was no rampage. Please show me evidence of a rampage. Please show me evidence of trying to ruin anyone's life. I covered every day of Ole Miss' football camps last summer. I didn't miss any to go to Fayetteville for baseball games or anything. Oh, and Mr. Porter, I went to several high school football games -- my daughter dances on the #WorldsGreatestDanceTeam, and if they performed, I was there. No witch hunt behind the scenes. I don't know enough people here and/or at Ole Miss to properly perform a witch hunt.
7. To reiterate, I don't care if Nix stays or leaves. I. Don't. Care. I don't cheer for or against college football teams or college basketball teams. I'm not all for anyone except being all for the Cubs keeping Kris Bryant and extending Javy Baez.
Thank you for listening. And yes, in this Christmas time, I wish everyone, even the St. Louis Cardinals, peace.
