If the truth was known , Carter was probably told to retain him.

There is almost no doubt that Carter was told to retain and support Luke.  Now Ole Miss is a melting pot of Ole Miss people with Ole Miss connections.  They are all friends in a country club.  This will make it difficult for someone to be fired.  Either Ole Miss will find Luke some cushy office position or his contract will be allowed to expire.  If his contract expires, so will the football team because he will leave nothing but a mess when and if he ever leaves.

Re: Carter Quote about Luke

Carter is not going to come out of the starting gate swinging the ax at Luke, especially with recruiting in full swing now. Before Carter was named AD, the decision had already been made to retain Luke and all of the staff who wish to stay. The buyouts (supposedly $17 million) are just too rich for Ole Miss to handle now. (At least, that was the official reason given.) I’m not saying I agree with this decision by any means, but it is what it is.

So many seem confused. I guess bitching and moaning will make things better Blueboy;<) Carter's performance in his position has been admirable. I really don't get the down on Carter business unless someone's got any "insiide" info they're not sharing. Does anyone on this board ever discuss sports/recuiting or have they watched so much CNN all they caa do is bitch and moan;<)

The reason we all complain and moan is bc we actually watch ole miss sports.  There are people who complain about everything and there are those that deny the obvious truth in front of them.  Both types are insufferable.  There are also realistic people who get upset and complain when things need to be complained about and dealt with.  🤷‍♂️

Well, Matt Luke being an actual football coach and global warming being a real thing are one in the same.  So there is that.

It's actually "climate change". The newer models that will start getting more talk is actually geared towards another ice age coming, rather than global warming. Who knows what will happen with that. But we have all known, since day one, what would happen under Luke. And after all of the years and millions of dollars handed to him, he has yet to shown that he's capable of even being a head coach at a high school. The guy is a damn joke.

As a fan, we are supposed to be emotionality invested in the product. But, you're right - we should stop being emotionally invested in the program. We should make a concerted effort to separate ourselves from the situation by not giving another penny if we don't like what we see. I know I'll never give another dollar as long as this scam continues. And, that means no longer caring about the football program, like you are correctly suggesting we do.

I'll still follow the basketball and baseball teams, and make the games I can attend. But as for the football program - it's not fun or entertaining when a program doesn't even try to win.

Re: Carter Quote about Luke

Luke sure has been responsible for a "climate change" for Ole Miss football.

Zreb is certainly welcome on our site.  We are open to his insight, views, and appreciate any comments he provides.  In the end we may not all agree on things, but everyone should be allowed to express themselves on this board, unless it gets out of hand, being over zealous, or making personal attacks on other members.
