Let's hear the beer sales #

for last weekend. The great cure all for sagging ticket sales. We may have over-built for our own britches. Too many seats and too high prices have finally caught up with us.

It wouldn't have been if we had a real coach. Tickets would still be in demand. You can also thank Bjork for building an erector set that sucks instead of what was originally planned. I'm still pissed that he ruined the south endzone and north endzone in one swoop.

Just curious what you think is wrong with the north endzone except it wasn't built as shown in the initial renderings.

Re: Let's hear the beer sales #

If the North End Zone were built as originally proposed, then it would mimic the South End Zone.  Bjerk sold a bill of goods to the fans who thought they were getting a nicer North End Zone.  If I had donated, then I would demand a refund because I paid for something that I did not get.

Supposedly there were issues with the Starnes Center, but a good engineering firm could resolve most construction issues.  Another thing I heard is that the IHL would not approve the North End Zone design.  This is due to the Moo U, USM, and other anti-Ole Miss people on the board not wanting Ole Miss to have a better stadium than their alma mater.

No matter what the case, Ole Miss fans were duped and got an inferior product.  What they got was not as advertised.

On beer sales, it would be interesting to see about crime rate increases, too, such as DUI, public drunk, or other related alcohol crimes.

I'm not a Pete Boone fan but he did an amazing job with the last two expansions of the stadium. One of the features that he created was the concourse around the top of the stadium, where you could walk around and still watch the game on the field. That was awesome. Bjork wanted to make a quick buck, so he simply erased this feature from the SEZ and installed the luxury boxes that were originally planned for the NEZ box in this space instead. He also took the club section that was originally planned for the NEZ box and made it field level in the SEZ. Now that he had his box need eliminated from the NEZ, he decided to just build the grand stand. Even in this he made a very poor decision. It's one that we may have to live with permanently. The entire stadium is made of concrete, except for the NEZ. He went with cheap materials and constructed the NEZ entirely out of metal. Not only does this not match well with the rest of the stadium, it also is miserable to sit in, when it is really hot or really cold.

The things that I do not like about the NEZ are:
- construct materials do not match with the rest of the stadium
- instead of trying to tie in the different design elements of the other 3 sides, he created a 4th entirely different look from them all
- He did not continue the top concourse in the NEZ and eliminated it from the SEZ
- The top of the NEZ stands do not match the top of the West and East stands by only 5 rows. My OCD makes me hate this.

The NEZ was a mistake - no way to defend what was built. I think you nailed it in saying VHS now has 4 very different looking structures in it that will make it impossible to make the stadium look uniform. From everything I have read was that the SEZ design could have been done in the NEZ but would have costed more. If the money wasn't there to build it yet - simply wait and continue raising money.

Let's not forget the rendering of the metal NEZ isn't what we got either. Where the video board facing the Grove? Doesn't even exist. Honestly, I'm hoping we can eventually afford to tear it down and build something that makes sense. But with attendance, as a whole, declining across CFB, that may not even make sense to do.

Re: Let's hear the beer sales #

Just like everything else with Bjork, he built more hurdles for us to overcome. He was a terrible AD. He set us way back.

And why in the hell did he put the Pavilion so unbelievably close to VHS? Wouldn't it have made more sense to put the thing closer to the Turner Center and made Hill Drive go between VHS and the Pavilion?
