Just got home from a funeral (wife's cousin). Guy was a huge Ole Miss fan. At the end, they played a recording of Ole Miss's band playing From Dixie With Love. Man, hadn't heard that in forever and forgot how beautiful of a song that is.

Damn. Sorry for your loss. I really miss that song. I guess we are all so much better not having to listen to it anymore. Don't you feel better? Don't you think Ole Miss is better now than it was a few years ago when they took away the songs?
Oh, some collegiate industry magazine wrote about the name "Ole Miss" being racist, so that's going to go soon too. We are just getting better and better and better.

The Ole Miss name will probably be gone in the future due to lots of pressure from people who have never been to Mississippi and know nothing about the culture of the South. Start collecting the Ole Miss swags because they could be gone within the next decade. If Ole Miss becomes known as Mississippi, then you can really be assured that these same outsiders will hardly ever be able to make a distinction between Mississippi and Mississippi State.
With the name Rebels, Ole Miss missed the boat several years ago when they had the opportunity to associate Rebels with a Revolutionary War character. This association could have possibly given Ole Miss a different identity for the name Rebels and certainly a different mascot than a shark.

The Revolutionary solider seemed like a no-brainer. Just amazing how the administration didn't want to go that direction and chose to go to a black bear instead. And now we have a lizard looking thing on the sidelines...

A revolutionary war soldier wouldn't work either. These kids are being taught that America was Stolen from the people that were here before the colonists, the natives that occupied the land first. To these militant leftists a revolutionary war soldier would be as bad or not worse than a Confederate. These people are in their Think Tank every day making up their rules. This is their religion.

- Every nation was stolen from somebody else.
- Every nation was built on the backs of the oppressed.
- Every war has people killed.
