pending conclusion of an external, non-financial audit of the softball program. The issue is supposedly is "cultural" (whatever that means). Assistant Head Coach Ruben Felix will manage the program in Smith's absence.

Hrm... He was suspended before the season started in February too. Maybe he is a hot head or maybe he messed around with a student. Who knows?

There seems to be some smoke that he’s a real hardass to play for, and that has something to do with this. I’m just passing that along for what it’s worth. I personally don’t know anything about this situation.

I don’t know anything about him - I do have friends whose daughter is a softball player, and her dad made the comment one time after doing some checking around and taking to people he didn’t think he’d want his daughter playing for Smith. I didn’t ask him for any details.

Woody Hayes was tough/hard also but knew how to win. I thought our program seemed to be heading in the right direction recruiting and overall success. I hope it works out. I would hate to see another successful program squashed. Of course, if the issue turns out to be "abusive and unethical behavior" that would be different and call for action.

Whatever the situation, you can almost be assured that the media will run with the story and make it a constant big headline since it involves Ole Miss.

Yes, we have a good softball coach and the girls are the best we have ever had, so by all means, lets stall this program since we are getting better each year.

I'm sure whatever is going on will eventually come out. Hopefully it's nothing real bad. Softball program has been trending up.

No matter what the issue, the media will run with it and make it an ordeal.

That depends upon whether the "abusive and unethical behavior" is really abusive and unethical, or if it is what our current snowflake mentality deems abusive which is really just discipline and hard work.
