My understanding is that the current head coach is always required to be at a COI hearing if his sport is involved. Shortly after Jackie Sherrill left MSU, their new HC Sylvester Croom had to attend a COI hearing related to the Jackal's tenure at MSU. When asked about it later by a reporter, Croom said he told the Committee he would do everything possible to avoid mistakes made in the past.
