City of Atlanta Computers held hostage by Ransomware

On a recent trip to Atlanta, someone told me about the City of Atlanta's computer system being held hostage by ransomware.  You can almost be assured that the same group will target computers in other cities and towns.  Below are some articles related to the City of Atlanta's computer system being held hostage by ransomware:

I'll never understand why government systems don't run on Linux instead of Windows...... Significantly more secure.

I’ve never compared the prices, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s because Windows is cheaper.
