These two middling SEC teams hope to land on the correct side of the NCAA tournament bubble in six weeks. To turn those hopes into reality neither can afford to lose a game like this, especially the homestanding Razorbacks, who have lost four of five and were pounded by Florida 88-73 last time out. Ole Miss is 0-3 in SEC road games, falling to Texas A&M 71-69 earlier this week.
Ole Miss has been consistently solid and never spectacular under coach Andy Kennedy and this season is no different. The Rebels are 54th in the nation in offensive efficiency (8th in SEC) and score 78.1 ppg. They allow 74.7 ppg and are 10th in the conference in defensive efficiency. Deandre Burnett paces a balanced Ole Miss attack, putting up 14.3 points per game. Terence Davis contributes 13.1 ppg and Bruce Stevens adds 10.9 ppg. The Rebels have shot poorly in conference games (28 percent on 3-pointers).
Arkansas flourished in a weak SEC the last three years but rival schools have upgraded their coaching and recruiting and the Hogs could be on the cusp of falling behind. When the shots are falling, the offense is unstoppable, putting up 84.4 points per game. They are 30th nationally in efficiency, sixth vs. SEC foes. Jaylen Barford scores 18.9 ppg and hits 44 percent of 3s. Darryl Macon adds 15.2 ppg and is a 42-percent 3-point threat. The Hogs allow 75.7 ppg and are 13th in the SEC in defensive efficiency (113.7).
