Ole Miss Football: Know Your Coaches, Charles Clark, Secondary

As soon as the season ended the work really began for Ole Miss football. After the end of every college football season there are staff changes across the nation. Of course, when there are mass amounts of coaching changes as was this season you can be sure to see some quality personnel become available. Such was the case with coach Charles Clark.

Clark is a great coach without a doubt. His 2016 secondary at Colorado was one of the top groups in the nation. This allowed him the opportunity to coach for Willie Taggert at Oregon during the 2017 season. When Clark became available he and coach Matt Luke jumped at the chance to get the great young secondary coach back home in Oxford.

See coach Charles Clark is no stranger to Ole Miss football. In fact he was a three-year starter in the Rebels secondary from 2003-2006. Not only was a he a starter but he was consistently good because he understood the safety position inside out.

Clark made 34 consecutive starts for the Rebels while recording 198 tackles, 3 interceptions and 5 fumble recoveries. It’s really great to see coach Clark back at Ole Miss because he is a good guy who is a great young coach.

Not just for his coaching ability but also as a recruiter for Ole Miss. It’s hard for high school players not to appreciate coaches who are playing for their Alma Mater. Because of his experience with Ole Miss as both a player and now a coach, Clark will carry a lot of clout with some great high-school talent.

Coach Clark also served on staffs at Duke and San Jose State before assuming secondary responsibilities at Colorado.

This was a great hire for Matt Luke and Ole Miss football. Charles Clark is not just a great young coach but he is a die-hard part of the Ole Miss family. OHT wants to welcome coach Clark and his family back to Oxford. Good luck coach and Hotty Toddy!
