Re: Paying players.......

Paying college athletes will ruin college sports.  The players are getting paid with a free education which include tuition, books, living, meals, and stipends.  Now the last time I checked that is an easy $100k over 4-5 years.  In addition these players have the opportunity to network and get good jobs after they graduate, if they do not go pro.

If you pay players, then what is the pay scale?  There is no doubt that a high caliber producing player would feel like they should get paid more than someone who sits on the bench.  Also, players on Championship teams might think they are due more than someone at a lower tier school.  When players do not get their way, then they can go on strike and just not play.

Re: Paying players.......

Why would it stop there? If this ever went through, high school athletes would be looking for the same compensation. They can choose to not volunteer to play. It is a volunteer activity.

I'm already on the edge and this would push me over.....I've already written pro ball off and if they do this in college it will be semi-pro and I'll be gone...... Talk about killing the golden goose.....
