Re: What a Cluster

When I saw the news, I thought about the exit from Vietnam.  Evidently, the Afghanistan government is not strong enough to sustain itself and fight the Taliban.  They had an opportunity to make a stand and grow stronger with the help and training of the US, but they did not take advantage of the situation.  Now Afghanistan will become a hotbed for terrorist activities and plots to sabotage the US.

One thing the US should understand is that not every country in the world needs to think the way they do, not every county has to have the US lifestyle, and not every county in the world works best as a democracy.  There are too many people who died in Afghanistan for little to no reason, and there has really been little long-term gain from being in the country.  The US should never have been there for so long, and today is proof that the Taliban runs Afghanistan.  Throughout history, no country has ever had military success in Afghanistan, and now the US can added to the list.

Re: What a Cluster

Adding to the Afghanistan fiasco, we have military in 150 foreign countries, and give BILLIONS away to foreign countries - while our elected leaders look at increasing taxes and further adding to our national debt (devaluing our fiat currency). You can thank both the Democrats and Republicans for sending this country into the shitter - they are both equally to blame.

Re: What a Cluster

It is unfortunate that the US is giving away so much to foreign countries when we could be using the funds at home.  We are being taxed and paying to benefit people in other countries, and most hate us.  The whole system is flawed and we are the recipients of multitudes of bad decisions that have snowballed into what we are enduring today.

Re: What a Cluster

I totally agree - and it's just gonna get worse as we continue to elect the idiots that have gotten us into this horrible position.

Re: What a Cluster

However, the plight of fleeing Afghans, fearing reprisals and life under the Taliban, has not been entirely well received in India. BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party – India’s ruling party) politician Kapil Mishra was among the first to query the Kabul exodus, writing on Twitter: “Why these believers are running away from sharia?
#GenuineQuestion.”

Others were equally unsympathetic, with many claiming that the Afghans were fleeing the imminent imposing of Sharia law in their own country, only to demand its implementation in their new home.“They want Sharia law all over the world,” one person wrote, while Nupur J Sharma, editor of Indian right-wing news portal OpIndia, shared a meme suggesting that nobody wants to live in Afghanistan but they want to live under Sharia law in India.
